CASPA expands GP data sharing within Digital Social Care Records

CASPA expands GP data sharing within Digital Social Care Records, saving time and improving outcomes by providing patient’s GP Connect information for Care Managers, Deputies and other social care professionals to view.

Members of the Care Software Providers Association (CASPA) continue to lead the effort to join up Health and Social Care and this expanded patient data sharing follows two years of CASPA’s active partnership with NHSX, working alongside the Information Commissioner’s Office, the National Data Guardian, the Royal College of General Practitioners and the British Medical Association to establish this information governance blueprint for data sharing between Health & Social Care.

This latest GP Connect Access Record: HTML, displayed within Digital Social Care Records, now provides real time data viewing by the following Social Care roles:

  • Registered Manager / Care Manager
  • Deputy Home Manager / Deputy Care Manager / Senior Carer / Team Leader
  • Pharmacist / Pharmacy Technician
  • Social Worker
  • Nurse

The tailored view of the GP record, that is available for these roles to now view, includes the following sections of the GP patient record:

  • Summary
  • Allergies and Adverse Reactions
  • Medications
  • Immunisations

Before this expanded access can be enabled by providers of Digital Social Care Records, care providers must have Data Security Protection Toolkit (DSPT) standards met.

This data sharing between Health and Social Care is another example of CASPA driving positive change across Social Care to the ultimate benefit of Care Receivers.

CASPA is a UK based independent, not-for-profit association focused on maximising the use of digital technology to improve the quality of care in social care and has been instrumental in showcasing electronic transfer of care information between social care and the NHS. CASPA strives to implement legislation and regulatory guidelines within the industry where such standards do not currently exist. Membership is available to companies involved in the provision of software to the care sector. Members of CASPA benefit from having a central point of contact on issues facing the industry, and the association will represent members when bringing suggestions to the government and other industry bodies.
